Renowned and experienced painter, illustrator and teacher Catherine Moretti and her rock-star art skills as well as her ability to explain, instruct and demonstrate with patience and clarity will help you achieve your artistic goals.
Catherine has over 35 years of experience in creating art with eight of those years exclusively teaching many students in the Nelson region and from around the world.
Having studied art firstly in Aberdeen, Scotland then Kansas City, Kansas USA and then finally Wellington NZ, Catherine has the technical and creative process training to fulfil all your requirements.
Art Styles & Mediums: Her hands-on classes span a wide range of mediums, focusing heavily on basic anatomy, line, tone, and mixed media.
Workshops & Teaching: Catherine is well-known in the local creative scene for guiding absolute beginners and intermediate artists through foundational techniques.
Community Connection: She has been a fixture in the regional art sphere, teaching weekend courses that focus on both expressive drawing and Gelli plate mono-printing.
All of Catherine’s classes are taught on a one to one basis ensuring that you receive the undivided attention you deserve. Allowing you to flex your creative muscles or build on an existing skill set.

The Art Studio
Catherine’s inspiring, creative and relaxed studio is in Tasman's beautiful Golden Bay, 5 mins from Takaka township and 5 mins from Pohara on the main road, so easy to find.
The studio looks out to beautiful green pastures, hills and trees. From the studio you will see sheep and chickens wandering around and a Japanese inspired pond complete with glorious orange goldfish and water lilies.
The studio is surrounded by native plants and a variety of flowers and has light pouring in. It is a bright and cheerful place to enjoy art and learning.
